I was fortunate enough to attend the 2018 International Stickleback Conference on Behavior and Evolution in Kyoto, Japan with Whitley and my advisor, Dr. Robin Tinghitella. Thank you to Kyoto University for hosting the conference!

Thank you to the Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research (GIAR) program for providing me with this valuable funding!
Nothing quite like a 4 AM wake-up to pack fish in the dark and drive 2.5 hours to Seattle cargo shipping!
Like a fish you would take home from the fair in a baggie, our fish go home to our lab in Denver happy in their big bubbles. Today is the day!! We arrived in Seattle late last night and are currently driving toward our field sites to get started with some stickleback collection. I can’t wait to get out on a paddleboard, set up camp, and explore the beautiful PNW! If you’re interested in following my adventures (and probably a few misadventures), keep checking in on this “Blog” tab. I will try and post every day!
Misadventure #1: getting to the airport with our coolers already duct taped only to find out that one was over the 50lb limit. 😅 Stay tuned to find out what we use those big coolers for! Thank you so much to all my backers for their generous contributions to my work! I am overjoyed by all the help I have received and the support for research in STEM fields.
A wonderful group of amazing people from our Bioinformatics for Adaptation Genomics workshop in Weggis, Switzerland. I am fourth from the right. What a terrible view ;)
Whew! What a whirlwind week with so much great news!
Thank you very much to the Society for Northwestern Vertebrate Biology for awarding me with their 2018 student scholarship. I am so grateful for this opportunity! Thank you to the Moras and Erne Shubert Graduate Fellowship Fund and to the University of Denver for choosing my application for this award!
I have just arrived in Weggis, Switzerland for the Winter School B@G 2018 (hosted by ETH Zurich and Adaptation to a Changing Environment). It has only been two hours and I am already in love with this country! I am excited to learn a lot this week and meet some awesome people that are also interested in bioinformatics for adaptation genomics.
